NEWSMAKER: Maintaining Cardiac Health

- HAGERSTOWN, Md. - As part of WHAG's Better Together February theme, Kristen Fletcher of Frederick Memorial Hospital sat down with WHAG'S Carmen Chau on maintaining good cardiac health.

Little do many know, heart disease is the number one killer of women in the nation. Women carries different symptoms than men; women can experience shortness of breath while men, on the other hand, can experience chest pain.

Several factors cause heart disease such as: whether you smoke or not, obesity, diet, age, genetics, sleep patterns, and lack of exercise.

Fletcher provides advice on what can be done to prevent heart disease rather knowing it has to be treated. Cardiologists say they like to prevent it rather than treat it.
