Old Town Winchester, Events Galore

WINCHESTER, Va. – Winchester City Manager Dale Iman and City Council Member John Hill were just some of the public officials who showed their support for Old Town Winchester on Thursday at a press conference highlighting upcoming events.

The conference was hosted by Full Circle Marketing, the PR group hired by Old Town to redevelop the downtown events’ calendar.

Attendees grabbed information about new summertime events and activities in the downtown area, and discussed one of the most talked-about upcoming events, Kidz Fest.

"I love the idea of creating more family friendly events, and having things that stretch up and down the mall, because that allows visitors to explore all of our downtown," said chair of the Old Town Development Board, Lori Bridgeforth.

Attendees also discussed the marketing direction Old Town is currently headed. Over the last few years, Old Town Winchester, and other historic downtowns across the four-state area, have seen a revival in their communities.

"It was thriving back in the 70's, it evolved into a ghost town, and now it's just this renaissance," said Bridgefoth.

City Councilman John Hill could barely contain his excitement when asked what he was most looking forward to for Old Town. "I'm very excited about this,” he said with a laugh, “and I’m hoping more people will come down and be part of this."
