One in Custody After Attempted Taxi Cab Armed Robbery

- FREDERICK, Md. - One person is now in custody after The Frederick County Bureau of Investigation looked into an attempted Taxi cab armed robbery that happened at a local park Friday morning in Frederick.

The incident happened at 11:15 a.m. Friday, August 8 at the Pine Cliff Park off of Reich's Ford Road.

The Sheriff's office says Kashaka Miller has been charged with first and second degree assault as well as robbery.

Police say a handgun, later found to be a pellet gun, was taken from the scene.  Miller is being held at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.

Deputies say a female victim, the driver of a Frederick Taxi cab, said she was approached by a man with a handgun who demanded money from her. She refused and the suspect ran away on foot.

A second witness at the park provided additional information about a possible second suspect, deputies say. The witness provided a description, direction of travel and information regarding a woman who was also at the park and appeared to be associated with the male suspect.

A short time later, deputies said a man matching the description of the suspect was seen coming out of a wooded area across to the park and was taken into custody. At the same time, deputies said a woman operating a blue passenger vehicle was stopped by authorities on Reich's Ford Road near the park entrance.

Both have been detained by the Sheriff's Office and are currently being interviewed. The woman's vehicle was seized and transported to the Sheriff's Office storage facility.

No injuries were reported.
