MONT ALTO, Pa. - Following up an inspiring story WHAG covered last week, the project Operation Christmas Child wrapped up their last day on Monday.

It's a year-round effort organized by the Samaritan's purse National Relief Campaign, and allows folks to collect shoe boxes and then fill them with presents for children.

The shoe boxes are then sent across the country to children in need. The Mont Alto, Pa., location shipped out more than 10,000 shoe boxes, filled with presents.

"Every box we pass out a little booklet called The Great Gift, and it is handed out to the children...they get to hear the story about Adam and Eve all the way to the cross," said Loretta Tharp, area organizer.
