Police: Man Arrested After Robbing Hardware Store

HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Hagerstown Police arrested a man Thursday for allegedly robbing Startzmans Hardware on South Potomac Street.

According to a press release, the crime was reported Thursday morning around 11 a.m. when a white man entered the store and demanded money from the clerk. Officers reported that no weapon was displayed and no one was hurt.

Shortly after the crime was reported, officers arrested Gary Warden Cooper at home on Summit Avenue. Police were able to track Cooper down after someone in the area said they saw him flee the store.

Cooper was charged with robbery and theft.
