Police: Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrests

FREDERICK, Md. - Officers with the Frederick Police Department have arrested three people on drug charges after pulling a vehicle over for a traffic violation. 

The incident happened on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 around 12:49 p.m. in the 100 block of S. Market Street. 

Officer Gregware was on patrol in the area when he a pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation. After stopping the vehicle, a K-9 sniff of the car was conducted and yielded a positive alert for drugs. 

The driver was identified as Barry Leander Fleming, and the passengers of the vehicle were Terrance Troy Wylie, and Joyce Lynn Smothers. 

Upon further search of the vehicle, police found a small quantity of crack cocaine, and an altered prescription bottle with a controlled dangerous substance. The pills within the prescription bottle were identified as Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen. 

A search of Wylie yielded some synthetic cannabinoid. 

All three were arrested and transported to the Frederick County Central Booking Unit where they were proceeded without incident.
