Power Restored to Downtown Frederick

FREDERICK, Md. - The downtown area of Frederick was without power for more than three hours Thursday due to a blown transformer located on West 4th Street, according to city police. 

The incident happened around 12 p.m. Thursday, July 10. Frederick City Police were on the scene monitoring traffic conditions and the area affected. They tell WHAG a power coupling inside the transformer burnt out and failed. 

Since 3:30 p.m. all power has been restored to the downtown area. Police say West 4th Street is now open to all traffic.
