Troopers say Rejeanne Bernier, 73, of Granby, Quebec was pronounced dead on scene.
As we've reported, the multi-vehicle crashes happened around 8:45 a.m. along I-81 north and southbound near mile marker 22. As troopers arrived on the scene, they observed scattered vehicles across the three lanes of I-81 northbound.
State police say a total of 49 vehicles, including 13 tractor trailers were involved in the incident.
The initial investigation revealed a sudden snow squall happened in the area of I-81, resulting in near whiteout conditions, which caused the multiple accidents.
As we've reported, two fatalities were confirmed on scene by emergency medical staff. Four medical evacuation helicopters were called to the scene, which transported three victims. Two were flown to Fairfax INOVA Medical Center and one was flown to Baltimore Shock Trauma Hospital.
Officials announced the other victim in the crash, Mitchell Duane Dobbins, 65, of Hagerstown, Md., on Wednesday. Dobbins was the President of Hagerstown Engine 4.
