Police say Porter voluntarily came to the Maryland State Police Hagerstown Barrack at 9:30 a.m. They say Porter has been charged with firearms violations.
Police say this comes after an eight hour barricade situation Thursday in Sharpsburg, where police say they were serving a search warrant against Porter after getting a tip that he had illegal weapons inside his home on Mills Road.
Troppers say they were not able to find him at the time but took two rifles and three shot guns from the home. Police say they received another rifle and shot gun on Friday during their investigation.
Porter has been charged with seven counts of possession of a rifle or shot gun when prohibited and seven counts of possession of a fire arm when prohibited. Porter was taken to the Washington County Central booking unit where he is awaiting an appearance before a court commissioner.
