Standoff With Suicidal Man Lasts for Almost Two Hours

WINCHESTER, Va. - A Frederick County, Virginia apartment complex was evacuated for almost two hours Sunday afternoon while police negotiated with a suicidal man.

According to the Frederick County Sheriff's Office, a man at the Preston Place Apartments told a crisis line worker he was going to shoot himself and then refused to come out of his apartment.

Deputies and state police responded to the complex along Castlebridge Court shortly before 2 p.m. The man was taken into custody around 3:30 p.m. No one was hurt.
