'Stuff the Bus' Aims to Help Underprivileged Students

FREDERICK COUNTY, MD - People in Frederick County can help make sure underprivileged children start the school year off with the supplies they need.

Frederick County Public Schools has teamed up with a number of community grounds, including the United way of Frederick county, for the Stuff the Bus campaign.

From now until August 21, you can donate school supplies to needy children. Kids need everything from crayons and backpacks to glue sticks and notebook paper.

Organizers hope to fill an entire school bus with supplies by the end of the drive.

"Unfortunately, there are many, many needy and underprivileged families in Frederick County. Right now in the Frederick County Public School system, we have 41,000 students, and about a quarter of those quality for free or reduced-price meals. We have about 500 homeless students in the county," says Michael Doerrer.
