Officials responded to a call at the intersection of Norwalk and Porter avenues after Douglas Charles Butler had allegedly threatened another person with a sharp railroad spike.
When police approached him, Butler came toward them with a spike in hand, raising it above his head. Police say they shot Butler in the chest. After being shot, he continued to walk away. That's when he was tased.
Police say Butler is being charged with attempted malicious wounding and is still in the hospital.
