Thurmont Man Indicted on Drug Charges

THURMONT, Md. – A Frederick County man has been indicted on several drug-related charges after police in Thurmont say they found a marijuana growing operation in his home.

Michael Shifflet, 42, was detained on February 27th along with Mary Beth Shifflet, 36, after police served a warrant at a residence in the 100 block of Dogwood Avenue.

Inside the home, police say they found marijuana, marijuana growing equipment and marijuana plants.

On March 11th Michael Shifflet was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substance Paraphernalia, according to a release from the Thurmont Police Department.

Michael Shifflet was indicted by a grand jury on March 14th. He’s currently being held at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
