Tractor Trailer Accident Shuts Down EB Interstate 70 for 12 Hours

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Md. -  Maryland State Police in Hagerstown say traffic had to be detoured for more than 12 hours onto the Route 63 ramp due to a tractor trailer accident along Interstate 70 eastbound.

Police say the crash happened around 7 a.m. when the tractor trailer driven by Lawrence Thomas traveled across the eastbound lanes, struck a guardrail, and then overturned in the center median.

Thomas was taken to Meritus Medical Center and is expected to recover from his injuries.
