CUMBERLAND, Md. - Two homes went up into flames early Tuesday morning on Columbia Street.

Fire officials say two firefighters were injured while battling the blazes.

Both firefighters were taken to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. They were both released from the emergency room Tuesday morning. Officials say one was treated for heat exhaustion, and the other for shoulder injuries.

Those who lived in the two homes were able to make it out safely, but have been displaced. The American Red Cross is currently assisting those families.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
