VSP Investigate Fatal Accident in Warren County

WARREN COUNTY, Va. - Virginia State Police have confirmed a fatal accident in Warren County Sunday morning. 

Roy Vass, 53, was traveling westbound on Happy Creek Road (Route 624) around 5:30 am, when he came upon a railroad crossing near Dismal Hollow Road (Route 647).

He ran his 2004 Chevy Express Van off the road, and was ejected from his vehicle.

Police say he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Vass died as a result of his injuries around 6:45 am, while being transported to War Memorial Hospital.

Police believe alcohol was a factor, but the crash is still being investigated by C.P. Maddox. No other individuals or cars were involved in the crash.

VSP was assisted by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, and Fire and Rescue Departments from Linden, Front Royal and Shenandoah Shores.
