Washington County Gives raises nearly $200,000 for local organizations

Washington County, Md - The Washington County Gives online fundraiser raised nearly $200,000 dollars from more than 1,000 gifts, according to the fundraiser's website.

"So often when the non-profits have to apply for grants it has to be for something very specific where this event they can take that money and put it towards something like their operating funds or to use for a project at a later date," said Ally Sirbaugh, Director of Communications, Community Foundation of Washington County.

The Washington County Gives online fundraiser was a 24-hour event on Tuesday, where residents could donate a minimum of $10 to more than 50 organizations in the county with just a click of the mouse. According to the leaderboard, HEAL of Washington County, recieved the most amount of money with more than $32,000.

The Community Foundation of Washington County said the money raised will help the organizations with operational funds, events, and other outlets to help benefit the community.
