Wheeling Man Sentenced to 101 Months on Drug and Gun Charges

WHEELING, W.Va. - A Wheeling man who was selling cocaine and heroin from a local hotel was sentenced Tuesday, according to the United States Attorney for the Northern District of West Virginia.

U.S. Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, said Dale A. Davis, 36, was sentenced to serve 101 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense.

Officials say in August 2013 the Ohio Valley Drug Task Force utilized an informant to make controlled purchases of cocaine and heroin from Davis at the Knights Inn, formally the Wheeling Inn, on Main Street in Wheeling.

After controlled purchases were made, the Task Force obtained a search warrant for the hotel room and Davis was found to have a 9mm pistol, cocaine, heroin, and around $2,400 in cash.

Davis was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal pending designation to a Federal institution.
