Winchester Hosts its First Salute to Our Troops Celebration

WINCHESTER, VA - For the first time in its history, the city of Winchester is hosting a full on Salute to Our troops Celebration, with more activities than you can count.

"It happens on the downtown mall, here in downtown Winchester. We are so excited about being on the downtown mall," said Mitch Moore of Shenandoah University.

Held at the Old Town Loudoun Street Walking Mall, which has been completely revamped from one side to the other, this action packed event in honor of our troops is expected to draw in a full house.

City officials say they are thrilled as this is the first event of its kind saluting the troops within the area.

"Many war veterans say they are thrilled about spending time on the remodeled mall to celebrate with other fellow veterans," said Moore.

"As a veteran it means a lot to be with other veterans and to celebrate for our service to the community is something it really is special," said Mike Guevremont, a war veteran.

Featuring Buffalo soldiers and Korean war veterans, there will be a military parade, living history exhibits, live bands and much more.

A celebration of our American heroes.
