Woman Charged After Stabbing Hagerstown Man

HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Police say Shauntika Chandler, 18, is facing numerous charges after stabbing her boyfriend Saturday afternoon. 

The incident happened at 727 Medway Road around 2 p.m. Saturday. Devonte Morel, 21, of Hagerstown is now recovering after police say his girlfriend left him with two severe stab wounds.

"One stab wound was in the chest and the other was on the lower right side oblique," said Sgt. Andrew Lewis of the Hagerstown Police Department.

Chandler is now facing several charges in the incident. 

"She was charged with first degree assault, second degree assault, reckless endangerment and carrying a dangerous or deadly weapon the the intent to injure," Lewis added.

Police say the stabbing was a result of a domestic dispute between the two. Morel was in serious condition as of Sunday. 

"Upon arrival at Meritus Medical Center, the medical staff determined that he needed to be taken to a different hospital," Lewis said. "He was transferred to shock trauma in Baltimore and underwent surgery at some point."

Chandler is being held at the Washington County Detention Center. Her bond is set at $70,000.
