FREDERICK, Md. - Members with Frederick County Fire and Rescue say a woman was flown to a nearby burn center after an early morning house fire in Frederick.

The incident happened around 5:19 a.m. Monday along 98 McMurray Street.

The first arriving unit reported a single-family home with fire and smoke showing from the front. Crews began an aggressive fire attack to the inside of the house, and a search was initiated by the first arriving rescue personnel.

Fire officials say an unconscious 59-year-old woman was rescued from the home by search crews, and she was flown by a Maryland State Police helicopter to the Burn Center at Medstar Washington Hospital Center. She was last listed in serious condition.

It took 30 firefighters about 12 minutes to control the fire. One firefighter suffered an ankle injury during the incident.

Fire officials say the origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation by the Frederick County Fire Marshal's Office.
