HAGERSTOWN, MD - Women who have made a big impact on local government were honored Tuesday night.

Women at the Table, an organization that says it's ultimate goal is to achieve parity in government, honored two
Washington County women at the Fountainhead County Club.

Julianna Albowicz has been U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski’s Western Maryland Representative since 2003.   She’s also served as the vice mayor of Clear Spring and was the first woman to be elected to the council.

Carolyn Brooks has worked for the City of
Hagerstown Housing Authority and the State of Maryland Violence Council, where she still serves.

“I think it’s important for women to challenge themselves and be assertive—and certainly when I work with young women, I always encourage that,” Brooks said.

This is the ninth year Women at the Table has given out awards.
