Chambersburg Area School Board approves $136 million budget

The budget includes a 4.5% tax hike

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa - The Chambersburg Area School Board approved a $136 million budget with a 4.5% real estate tax increase.

According to the school administration, along with the budget approval, the Board voted to eliminate a $15,000 gymnastics program due to the lack of participants and expensive cost.

During the meeting Wednesday, School Board President Dana Baker outlined some potential setbacks to approving the budget including the unknown status of revenue from the State and Federal Government.

The deadline to approve the budget is June 30th, but Wednesday night, the Board voted in favor of the 2017-2018 budget six to one.
