CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - UPDATE:
According to the Chambersburg Police Department, after a complete search of the hospital, it was determined that there was no evidence of an active shooter.
Police are now continuing the investigation, after they say the caller used a cell phone, most likely from another state, to make the call to the hospital.
Charges of false alarm to public safety are pending against the suspect who called in the false alarm report upon his identification. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Chambersburg Police Department.
According to the hospital operator of Chambersburg Hospital, currently no one is allowed to enter and leave the hospital. Police are still searching for a possible suspect after reports of possible shots fired and are still working to clear the third floor, according to the hospital operator. The operator said those at the hospital have been told to stay alert.
According to Franklin County Emergency dispatchers, a call came in at 11:21 p.m. on Thursday night for a possible active shooter situation at Chambersburg Hospital.
According to dispatch, police officers are currently on the scene and searching the third floor of the hospital after receiving reports from a third party, who stated there was an active shooter on the scene.
Dispatch said officers are working on clearing the third floor of the Chambersburg hospital.
As of 11:55 p.m., dispatch confirmed no shots were fired.
