Museums offer free entry to active military personnel

One of those locations is in Mercersburg at the Conococheague Institute

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - As a way to honor active military personnel and their families, museums around the country are offering them free admission.

One of those locations is in Mercersburg at the Conococheague Institute. The free entry begins on Memorial Day and runs to Labor Day. The museum joins more than 2,000 others around the country as Blue Star Museums.

Unlike many others, the Conococheague Institute is extending the free entry to this weekend, as they host the Swine Wine and Rose Festival and the ribbon-cutting for Negley Cabin on Saturday.

"We can’t do enough to thank them for their service, and if we can give them a nice day out in nature at a historical site, that looks much like it did over 250 years [ago]. We are happy to do that,” said Rachel Nichols, Development Coordinator, Conococheague Institute.

There are Blue Star Museums throughout the Four-State region. Click here to find one near you.
