WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Monday night, the Waynesboro Area School District held a meeting where the board members discussed the 2017-2018 respective budget.
At the beginning of the meeting, the council was notified that they were facing the possibility of being at $119,000 in the red, pending a full tax increase. The school board was also made aware they had a fund balance of $1.7 million in their general fund. Different school board members had different opinions of what they can do to balance the budget and what areas they to have cut.
“At this situation were going to have to make some cuts or some reductions or we're going to have to increase our revenue. We don't have the options for increasing the revenue beyond a full tax increase, and many of us don't want to go there,” said Leland Lemley, a school board member.
The Chambersburg School District school board will meet Tuesday evening.
