CDS Arrest

On December 8, 2011 an officer from the Cumberland City Police Department was monitoring traffic on Interstate 68 when he observed a vehicle exceeding the speed limit.   Based on the violation, the officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and contacted the operator, David Louis Deshayes.   At the time of the stop Deshayes was found to be operating the vehicle without a valid driver's license.   During the course of the stop, the officer observed behavior that indicated the probability that the driver may be concealing contraband.   When the officer confronted Deshayes about his behavior, he openly admitted to the officer that there was a baggie of marijuana and a glass smoking device inside the vehicle.   During a probable cause search of the vehicle the officer located a clear plastic baggie of marijuana and a glass smoking device.   Deshayes was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.

As a result of the arrest, Davis Louis Deshayes was charged with, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.    Deshayes was later taken before the District Court Commissioner and later released on his own recognizance.
