Quick Getaways: Baltimore's Inner Harbor

BALTIMORE, MD- Some know it as charm city while others call it the crab cake capital of the world -- Baltimore, Maryland is a city of distinction.

After an extensive revitalization to its inner harbor a number of years ago, Baltimore is filled with numerous sights.

While aquatic life is a definite feature at the National Aquarium, it features a number of land exhibits which deliver a reminder of the importance of doing things to support the environment.

And there's an opportunity to get up close with some of the 16,000 animals at the aquarium. Your tour of the aquarium is not complete until you've taken in the dolphin show.

And with some major renovations underway the new black tip reef exhibit is slated to open in July.

Traveling across the harbor one of the 'star' attractions in Baltimore is Fort McHenry, where the attack by British forces during the war of 1812 was abruptly halted.

The British had burned Washington and had intentions to burn Baltimore and continue to other northern cities. The bombardment of the fort was observed by Francis Scott Key who was being held as a prisoner aboard one of the British ships.

A day in Baltimore is not complete until you've enjoyed one of the restaurants in Fells Point of Little Italy.

Enjoying the charm of charm city.
