Va. Man Arrested After Heroin, Drugs Found Inside Vehicle

FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. - Maryland State Police arrested a Virginia man Thursday night after numerous drugs were found in his possession after he was pulled over for driving erratically along Interstate-70.

Troopers said the incident occurred on Thursday, August 21 around 9:45 p.m. along I-70 westbound at mile marker 58. They said while on patrol, TFC Tindal saw a Nissan in the far right lane. The Nissan nearly struck another vehicle that was in the middle lane. The trooper than pulled the vehicle over.

Upon making contact with the driver, identified as Joseph Riley Curry from Virginia, the trooper saw several needles and a spoon in plain view. Curry was then placed under arrest, and while waiting for backup TFC Tindal saw Curry attempt to get rid of a bag of heroin out of his pants pocket.

State police said TFC Tindal was able to retrieve the heroin and find two more bags on the ground by the driver's side door. A spoon, six hypodermic syringes and a prescription bottle containing 20 pills of Alprazolam was also retrieved.
