WINCHESTER,Va - White House Foods is offering a chance for residents to shop locally and honestly.
The company opened their lets be honest market Saturday. Nothing inside the store has a set price and there is no checkout counter.
It's part of the family-owned apple processing company's White House Cares Initiative to promote community involvement and interaction. The store is based on a 100% honor system, allowing customers to pay what they feel the product is worth. With this initiative the store hopes to bring awareness to homeless, impoverished and undernourished people in the area
"We have a suggested retail price on the shelf, to tell you how much something would cost, so we want to promote trust within the community and our families. And we believe that we want to promote that trust it begins with families and shopping at grocery stores." Belladean Mashingaidze of White House Foods says.
The store will be open on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m.-2p.m.
