WINCHESTER, Va. - The Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center is undergoing a $2.38 million dollar security system upgrade.
The jail began the upgrade in late November to replace its analog-based video system.
The renovation is expected to be completed by April 1, followed by several weeks of trials to make certain the system is operating the right way and to train staff.
Superintendent James Whitley said the board agreed that the facility met the criteria for the reimbursement often given to jails for upgrades and renovations.
The facility serves the city of Winchester and Frederick, Clarke and Fauquier counties.
