ARLINGTON, Va. - A shooting involving Arlington County Police is under investigation.
Arlington County Police say that at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday officers were attempting to make a traffic stop on an exit ramp on I-395 southbound. The single occupant of the vehicle pulled over was a “wanted subject.”
Police say the driver struck an officer with their vehicle at which point officers shot at the driver.
Police say they have not yet confirmed how many officers were on the scene, nor have they confirmed how many officers discharged their weapons.
Officers attempted to perform “life-saving care” on the driver before medics arrived. The driver was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, the officer struck by the vehicle was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and one officer was treated on the scene for minor injuries by Arlington County Medics.
