UPDATE: Winchester man appeared in court for preliminary hearing

WINCHESTER, Va. - Charges against a Winchester man who was shot by a store clerk while allegedly robbing a 7-Eleven on Pleasant Valley Road back in January have been certified to a grand jury.

Thirty-three-year-old, Kahlil Kirton, appeared in Winchester General District Court on Wednesday for a preliminary hearing and a city grand jury will now determine if he should be indicted.

Kirton is currently being held at the Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center in Frederick County, Virginia.

Officials say he's charged with robbery, abduction, using a firearm in commission of a felony, and wearing a mask in public.
