Human remains recovered from house fire

Firefighters from five counties responded to the two alarm fire

JEFFERSON COUNTY, W.Va. - A deadly fire caused a home to collapse in Jefferson County early Saturday morning.

An adult male's body was recovered from the scene on the 2200 block of Berryville Pike, according to Jefferson County officials.

Dispatchers say the house was completely engulfed in flames when firefighters first arrived.

A neighbor made the initial 911 call.

Firefighters from five counties responded to the two alarm fire and were on scene all day.

The incident forced the closure of Berryville Pike in both directions for several hours.

Further information on the victim will be released after an autopsy is performed.
