KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - Berkeley County residents can expect delays for the next month, as Short Road in Kearneysville is under construction.
According to officials with the West Virginia Division of Highways, the road closure is necessary to perform widening operations, constructing a turning lane and changing the profile of the existing roadway.
They anticipate the construction to take about 20 days, so access to Route 9 will be limited until the project is completed.
Drivers are advised to be aware of their surroundings while driving through the construction zone.
"With the increased traffic with the Short Road interchange and a number of trucks going through that area, the road needs to be improved,” said Ken Clohan, District Traffic Engineer.
Officials believe the project will help relieve congestion in the area.
