Winchester Teen Arrested for Using Counterfeit Money

- FREDERICK COUNTY, Va. - The Winchester Police Department arrested a local teenager after they said he tired to buy something with counterfeit money. 

The incident occurred at 11:20 a.m., Wednesday, July 23 at a business located in the first block of South Loudoun Street. The business said they did not take the $100 bill and the 19-year-old left the business. 

A detailed description of the teen was provided and officers made contact with the suspect who matched the description in the area of Boscawen Street and South Loudoun Street. 

In the process of detaining him, the teen pulled away from the officer and fled the area on foot. After a short foot pursuit the teen was arrested in the 100 block of North Washington Street. 

The suspect was identified as Joseph Davet, of Winchester. Davet was charged with obstruction of justice, obtaining money by false pretense and possession of counterfeit money.
