Maryland loses to #6 North Carolina

Tyler Zeller scored 22 points, John Henson had 17 points and 12 rebounds, and No. 5 North Carolina rallied from a nine-point deficit in the second half to squeeze past Maryland 83-74 Saturday.

UNC star Harrison Barnes, who sprained his left ankle Tuesday against Wake Forest, scored 18 points on 5-for-15 shooting. He started slowly but was instrumental after Zeller picked up his fourth foul with 11:44 to go.

Henson scored 12 points over the final 10:12. His basket on a goaltending call against Alex Len with 2:04 left put the Tar Heels up 74-69.

Terrell Stoglin scored 20 for Maryland (13-9, 3-5). It marked the first time that Terrapins coach Mark Turgeon faced his former mentor at Kansas, Carolina's Roy Williams.
