Middletown's Bertoni wins fourth state wrestling title

Senior ends career with eight total state titles, will wrestle at Maryland

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Middletown Senior Danny Bertoni won his fourth individual wrestling state title in Class2A/1A at the 138 weight class.

The three-time all-American will compete at Nationals at the end of March, but finishes his high school career with eight total state titles: two with Middletown Boys Soccer, two with Middletown Wrestling as a team, and four individual wrestling titles.

Middletown's Wrestling program, led by Head Coach Jim Schartner, turned in a historic season winning back-to-back state championships as a team.

Sean Mullican won his second individual state title in 285 weight class; Adam Bain (Bertoni's practice partner) was champion of the 152 weight class.
