11-Year-Old Student Charged with Assault in Mercersburg

Officers with the Mercersburg Police Department say a middle school student is facing charges after they say he assaulted a school staff member.
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Officers with the Mercersburg Police Department say a middle school student is facing charges after they say he assaulted a school staff member.  

It happened Tuesday around 12:54 p.m. at James Buchanan Middle School on 5191 Fort Loudon Road. 

Officers say an 11-year-old student became violent in the classroom and assaulted a female staff member, who was attempting to get the student under control. 

The student is charged with one count of aggravated assault and the case referred to Franklin County Juvenile Probation.
