FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. - The Frederick County Sheriff's Office says a 14-year-old from Emmitsburg, Md., is facing numerous charges after he led police on an ATV chase while pulling a stolen trailer.

Deputies say on Sunday the teen, along with another person, took the trailer off of someone's property in the 12,500 block of Stottlemeyer Road in Myersville. The ATV was seen heading south on Stottlemeyer Road toward Wolfsville.

The two led police on a chase off of the road and into a field, where a K9 Unit tracked their scent to a house on Harp Hill Road. Deputies say it was soon discovered the theft was intended to be a prank on the victim, whom they knew. The victim did not press charges.

The teen is charged with fleeing and eluding police, driving an unregistered vehicle and driving without a license. He's been referred to the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services and released to a guardian.

The Sheriff's Office says they're consulting with the Frederick County State's Attorney Office regarding charges for the passenger.
