A Dozen People Arrested in Gang Shooting

On Thursday, Hagerstown police released more information about a shooting that happened back in April. Police have charged several individuals in response to a shooting on Johnathon Avenue. 
HAGERSTOWN, MD- On Thursday, Hagerstown police released more information about a shooting that happened back in April. Police have charged several individuals in response to a shooting on Johnathon Avenue. 

The Hagerstown Police Chief Mark Holtzman tells WHAG that 12 people have been indicted for the shooting in April and says the men involved are gang members of the infamous groups, The Bloods and The Crips. 

Police say eight of the men are part of The Crips and the rest; The Bloods. They all face charges, 10 of them attempted murder and assault. 

Charges are being brought against; Mark Dawson, Nathenial Knox, Jermaine Reed, John Leonard, Matthew Gardner, Delonte Ellison, Jason Gross, Ronnie Bradford and Purnell Ricks. 

Cory Beckett and Steven Bowie face charges like reckless endangerment, but not attempted murder. Police are still looking for another person, his name is Tyland Rollins. 

Police say it's the first time in Hagerstown they've seen a gang type retaliation and shooting. The shooting happened on April 15, 2013 around 7 p.m. at night. Police heard reports of shots being fired. When they got there they found a man with a gunshot wound to his right leg. 

Chief Holtzman also told WHAG some of those gun shots fired back in April even went into some residents' homes in the area. Luckily, no one else was injured. He says the community has been a vital part in the investigation. 

The Hagerstown Police Department says the investigation is still ongoing, and that a number of other agencies, like the Washington County Sheriff's Department, also played a role in the investigation.
