Another arrest made in Berryville homicide case

Another arrest has been made in the July 2009 killing of Berryville Councilman Gail Smith.

BERRYVILLE, Va. -- Another arrest has been made in the July 2009 killing of Berryville Councilwoman Gail Smith.

Deborah L. Smith – Gail’s sister – of Burkeville, VA was arrested Monday on charges of capital murder and conspiracy to commit murder, according to a press release from the Berryville Police Department.

Deborah Smith was arrested at her residence by members of the Prince Edwards County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were assisted by Berryville Police and the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office.

Police said in the release that they are unable to release additional information about the arrest at this time.

Two people are already facing charges in connection to Gail Smith’s murder, including Tony Sharp – accused of killing the councilwoman – and Gail’s brother Timothy Smith who is accused of paying to have his sister killed.
