Assault at Local Business Ends With One Man Behind Bars

Investigators say Stewart became hostile and began arguing, which lead to a physical confrontation with a patron.

CUMBERLAND, Md. - Police say one man is now behind bars after an assault at a local business over the weekend.

It happened Sunday just before midnight at a commercial business on the 100 block of North Centre Street.

Cumberland police say Mark Stewart was repeatedly asked to leave the business by staff members, but refused.

Investigators say he became hostile and began arguing, which lead to a physical confrontation with a patron.

Stewart was charged with second degree assault, disorderly conduct and trespassing.

He's currently being held at the Allegany County Detention Center.
