Attorneys for Governor McDonnell Meet with Federal Prosecutors

Attorney's for the Virginia Governor, Bob McDonnell, are trying to convince prosecutors that the governor and his wife should not be charged in a scandal in which they reportedly accepted gifts.
Virginia- Attorney's for Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell met with federal prosecutors on Monday. 

The meeting took pace in Alexandra Monday morning at the U.S. District Court building. The governor's attorney's are trying to convince prosecutors that the governor and his wife should not be charged in the recent scandal in which the two reportedly accepted gifts. 

Prosecutors are expected to spend the next few weeks trying to decide if there is enough evidence to file actual charges. 

The issue is whether DcDonnell took official actions to help the nutritional supplement company called, 'Star Scientific', while accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars from the company's CEO. 

The scandal has put the McDonnell marriage under an uncomfortable spotlight. Supporters of McDonnell have reportedly suggested the first lady did not tell her husband she accepted gifts.
