Police Respond to Bank Robbery in Jefferson County

It happened around 5:30 p.m. Friday Night at the Bank of Charles Town - Kearneysville Branch.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, WVa (WHAG) - Police responded to a bank robbery earlier Friday Evening in Jefferson County.

According to Sheriff Pete Dougherty, it happened around 5:30 p.m. Friday Evening at the Bank of Charles Town - Kearneysville Branch.

They say the man held up the bank, but did not display a gun.  Police say the suspect pepper sprayed a teller before leaving the scene.  Once police arrived on the scene, they conduced interviews and obtained a description of the vehicle the suspect fled the scene in.

Officials with the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department apprehended the suspect, who is a Pennsylvania resident.  Police also say the suspect was wanted on other charges.

Sheriff Dougherty says the suspect is being held on the outstanding charges, and will be changed with robbery for this incident.
