School officials say all schools were placed on a modified lock down around 1:40 p.m. as a precaution advised by local law enforcement.
BERKELEY COUNTY, W.Va. - Berkeley County Public School officials say all 31 schools have been placed on temporary lock-down after suspicious activity was reported in the area on Friday.

School officials say all schools were placed on a modified lock down around 1:40 p.m. as a precaution advised by local law enforcement. They say the lock down will stay in place until dismissal between 2:30 to 3:10 p.m.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says there was a report of two men acting suspicious in a vehicle at one school in Jefferson County. They say that same car was seen again at another school. Deputies say due to the suspicious incident, extra police personnel have been dispatched to all the schools. Government officials in municipalities are also providing additional security at their schools.

No injuries have been reported.

Deputies say the two men are described as in their 20's, one black and one white. A description of the vehicle has not been made available at this time.

Law enforcement say they will remain in a heightened state of alert, in order to reconvene safety next week.
