Berkeley County Woman Charged with Kidnapping Child

According to police, a Berkeley County woman was arrested for allegedly kidnapping a child in Martinsburg.

BERKELEY COUNTY, W.Va. - A Berkeley County woman has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a child in Martinsburg, according to police.

Martinsburg City Police say Rebecca Sky Felix, 41, was taken into custody Sunday after Felix allegedly abducted a one-year-old boy from a Martinsburg home. Officers say a Martinsburg couple allowed Felix to stay in their home on Friday because she was a friend of a friend and was homeless, according to Berkeley County court records.

Documents say on Saturday, the couple asked her to leave the next day when she started describing her husband as Jesus Christ.

Then on Sunday morning, that's when the couple noticed their child was missing and called police. Officers say Felix brought the child to Destiny Baptist Church in
Martinsburg and then left, walking into the downtown area where she was arrested.

The young boy was found unharmed at the church Sunday afternoon, according to documents.

Felix is charged with kidnapping. She's currently being held at the Eastern Regional Jail without bail.

If convicted, she could face up to ten years in prison.
