Chambersburg Man Heads to Trial for First-Degree Murder

Police say Kevin Rounder, 37, of Gardners, Pa., is currently being held at the Franklin County Jail after being accused of killing David Gipe, 44, with a shotgun outside his home on West King Street on July 18, 2013.
FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. - The man who allegedly shot and killed a Chambersburg man this summer will head to trial for first-degree murder.

Police say Kevin Rounder, 37, of Gardners, Pa., is currently being held at the Franklin County Jail after being accused of killing David Gipe, 44, with a shotgun outside his home on West King Street on July 18, 2013.

According to court documents, Rouner was involved in an affair with the victim's wife. A criminal complaint indicates that although Rouner claims he ended the affair, police say text messages between Rouner and the victim's wife reveal they were still involved in a relationship.

Also according to the complaint, Rouner denied being in Chambersburg on the night of the killing but authorities say phone records show he was in the area of the shooting when the murder took place.

Police say they found gunshots residue in a car he borrowed from his parents and that Rouner borrowed a shotgun from a relative.

Rouner's formal arraignment will take place December 4, 2013.
