City Hosts First Annual Preparedness in the Park Event

HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Folks came out to City Park on Tuesday to learn about safety and stock up on some free supplies.

The City of Hagerstown hosted their first annual Preparedness in the Park event. With the help of Washington County Emergency Services and Lowes on Wesel Boulevard, locals were informed about family emergency plans, shelters and warning system alerts.

Organizers also gave out some must-have safety items.

"We donated the trailer and everything inside of it for emergency response. We set up different tables here today to draw awareness. A lot of people didn't realize how many things can be used for safety... flashlights, latters that fold up and drop out of a second story window," said Pat Kubala, Lowes assistant manager.

At 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Remembrance in the Park begins at the Tribute Garden in City Park.
