JEFFERSON COUNTY, W.Va. - Christmas came a little early for Safe Haven Child Advocacy Center. On Wednesday, deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office presented a check for the money raised from their "Beards for Kids" campaign.

Families, friends, businesses in the community, members of the Ryneal Medical Transport, and the assistant prosecutor in Berkeley County donated towards the cause – making the grand initiative total $4,110.

In a joint statement, the deputies said, “We have been overwhelmed at the support we have received. In the beginning we thought it would be awesome if we could raise $1000. But to be able to stand here with a check for over three times that completely blows us away. Thank you to all that donated!”

In a written release the staff of Safe Haven stated, “We are thrilled about the success of the Beards for Kids campaign this past month. We provide child abuse prevention and intervention services to the local community. To have this kind of support from the local officers, family and friend truly reassures us, as a community, that people are serious and financially invested in protecting our kids.”

If you would still like to donate towards the cause, officials say you may still do so with a direct contribution to Safe Haven.
